Your 3&2 Operations and Facility Team Leaders

We are excited to work with each and every one of you this season. Whether you are a coach, parent, player, family member, partner, volunteer or anyone who is connected to 3&2, we look forward to helping you make great baseball memories for your kids this season, and here is the team that is going to make that happen.

Entering his fourth season as a full time 3&2 staff person is Deron Toomay. Deron is 3&2s Program Manager and has been the point person on our winter leagues, winter/spring player placement, new team formation, practice field assignments, league reschedules and social media communications. Deron has been involved with 3&2 most of his life as player and for the last 20 years on the front line as a field manager. Deron helps coach a second grade league team at 3&2 and is also involved in scouting and club volleyball with his three children.

Charlie Beets is in his rookie season as a full-time staffer at 3&2 but is no stranger to youth baseball and fastpitch. Charlie serves as an Assistant League & Tournament Director at 3&2. Charlie will help you assemble teams, place free agents, customize league and tournament events and answer questions, schedule games and recruit teams to our leagues and events from all over the region and U.S. respectively.

Prior to coming to 3&2, Charlie managed all administrative aspects of Elite level baseball and fastpitch events for Midwest Sports Productions. He organized and ran the events from the front line week in/week out 10 months per year.

Charlie has also worked in the NFL for six seasons as a college scouting coordinator for the Carolina Panthers and the Kansas City Chiefs. Charlie is an active coach in the 3&2 program.

Returning starter in his second full season as a full-time staffer at 3&2 is Ryan Highfill. Ryan serves dual roles at 3&2 and USSSA Fast Pitch. For 3&2, Ryan is our Senior League & Tournament Director serving point on all aspects of program operations, staff scheduling, master scheduling and maintenance, social media, and strategic planning and communications at all levels.

Since one job and one sport isn’t enough, Ryan also serves as the National Fastpitch Program Director for USSSA and interim State Director for Kansas & Missouri. In this role, Ryan oversees 30+ State Directors, 30,000 registered youth teams, National Programs, and the USSSA Pride professional fastpitch athletes and team.

When Ryan’s not running these programs, for the last 13 seasons, he could be found coaching high school baseball, and now can be found playing with his son and daughter who haven’t quite gotten into youth sports just yet.

Amber Beets is 3&2’s Retail Director & Awards Coordinator. Amber oversees all aspects of 3&2’s retail operations from event design concept to point of sale to our members and tournament guests. Amber also maps out all individual and team awards for league and tournament play and assists in many other operational functions for the team. A new saying has emerged in the office since Amber came on board in 2020 with regards to execution of tasks for our league members, “there’s now…and there’s Amber Now!”.

Prior to joining 3&2, Amber ran retail and gate operations for another local event management company. Amber has two children active in sports at 3&2 and other community activities.

Neil also has a daughter that played at 3&2 and other competitive sports and works in our concession stand.

At 3&2, Neil is responsible to you for all operational aspects of 3&2 including league management, overseeing player placement, new team formation, tournament management, sponsorships, partnerships, and special events such as camps and clinics.

Prior to doing what he loves to do at 3&2, Neil worked as a principal consultant in web content management for Crown Partners, as a technical communications and publications chief at Cerner Corporation, and a government affairs liaison in both the private and public sector.

After 20 years of service to a local 6A school district, Tom Gray joined 3&2 in 2002 as Grounds Chief so he’s celebrating his 20th year with us.  Tom runs a ground crew of up to 25 members to maintain 3&2’s properties including all 3&2’s buildings, common grounds, and equipment.  Tom has developed strong relationships/partnerships with some of 3&2’s most loyal partners in the construction, landscaping, and materials and equipment supply businesses who together make the facilities our teams play on some of the finest in the country.  Tom has previously coached his three kids in both softball and baseball here at 3&2.

3&2’s Executive Director is Jeff Chalk. Jeff oversees all capital projects, financial management, and operational programs for 3&2 Baseball.  Jeff is in his 33rd season at 3&2 and is also an alumni of the program as a player, coach, and grounds lead at 3&2’s former field location at Shawnee Mission Parkway & Pflumm. Federal League a Great Option for High School-Aged Players
by posted 02/10/2021

3&2 Baseball will again offer a spring/summer league for independent players who are not affiliated with their high school or a club. Some rosters may have players who did make their high school teams but that will be limited. This is one of the most unique and popular high school baseball leagues in the city.  If you're unfamiliar or unaffiliated with any of the teams currently signed up, register as a free agent, and we will work with you to help place you on a team or form a team.
Federal league teams are typically composed of high school aged players that want to keep playing ball for fun and/or stay in baseball shape for future team or club tryouts. Either way, the Federal League is a perfect bridge to meet those goals.
Teams will attempted to be formed by similar geographic area but not limited to a particular class level. For example, freshmen could be on the same team as juniors. If we have enough teams, we will split them into an older or more competitive division and a younger or less competitive division.
3&2 expects that at least one team will be formed from most of the local high schools including the Olathe, Shawnee Mission, Blue Valley, DeSoto school districts as well as the area parochial schools.
Managers of teams are needed so if you know of someone who is interested in coaching one of these teams, please call 3&2 at 888-8055 ext 303. Standings will be kept.
Season Starts:
Late May
Number of Games:
Team fee of $2999. Open roster so team fee divided by number of your players equals your approximate player fee.
Roster size:
Unlimited maximum but each player must appear on the teams' roster. Unlimited roster with a team fee allows for players who can only make a portion of the games.
Games Played:
Mondays and Thursdays
To allow players  to continue their high school baseball careers for fun and/or further development.
Registration starts / ends:
January 1 / May 1
