3&2 Baseball has received a grant from the City of Lenexa to convert the infields at 3&2 Baseball’s East Complex (fields 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 9) to artificial turf starting this fall. The grant comes from Lenexa’s transient guest tax and the improvements will help draw more teams to Lenexa and thus have significant economic impact to the nearby Lenexa City Center.
As previously announced, the Shawnee Mission School District, a long-time partner of 3&2, will be converting the infields of fields 1, 2 and 7 to artificial turf, also to be ready for play by next spring.
Thanks to both of these projects, all nine fields at the East Complex will have artificial turf infields, making 3&2 competitive in the youth tournament market while also improving the playing conditions for league play for youth participants at all age and ability levels.
These significant upgrades will provide extra confidence to teams in both league and tournament play that conditions will allow for safe and reliable play from early spring through the summer and fall seasons.
Attention now turns to finding funding for similar improvements at the West Complex.
