About the camps
Camp one will focus on all aspects of the game except pitching. This will include hitting, infield play, outfield play, base running, and mental aspects of the game. Camps two and three will focus only on their respective aspects of the game.
About the instructor
Coach Poppinga teaches science and also is an assistant football coach at North High. He played collegiately at the University of Sioux Falls (SD) and earned academic All-American and all-conference honors. Before coming to North, Poppinga taught science and coached baseball and football in Fargo, North Dakota where he earned his Master's Degree from North Dakota State University in Zoology/Cell Molecular Biology. Coach Poppinga’s staff are all CPR certified and have over 20 years of baseball coaching experience.
Who can attend the camp?
Any incoming 6th, 7th, 8th, or 9th grader can register. We limit
the number of participants to keep instructor/camper ratio at an
optimum learning level. Parents and/or coaches are encouraged
to attend.
Where is the camp?
All sessions will be held at the Shawnee Mission North baseball
field on campus, 7401 Johnson Drive.
What do I bring to the camp?
Please bring glove, spikes, sweatpants or baseball pants, hat,
bat, water bottle “with your name on it”, and an enthusiasm
to learn. Catchers bring your own gear if you can.
