New Bat Safety Guidelines

Click here to read more about why we need this rule?

3&2 Baseball has adopted the new national bat standards that will go into effect January 1, 2012. All bats in league and tournament play must meet the following requirements.

  • T-Ball (pre-school) - No limitations or restrictions
  • Coach Pitch (kindergarten) - No limitations or restrictions
  • Machine Pitch (1st and 2nd grade) - All bats (big barrel included) must have a 1.15 BPF or BBCOR mark. T-ball/coach pitch  bats are prohibited.
  • 3rd-8th grade (9u-14u) -  All bats (big barrel included) must have the 1.15 BPF or BBCOR mark.
  • High School (15u-18u) - All bats being used will need the BBCOR mark and have not have a greater length/weight difference than -3.

Any bats that do not conform to the rules listed above will not be allowed at 3&2 in league. For USSSA-sanctioned tournament play, the USSSA bat standards apply. Click here to read more about the bat rule changes from USSSA.

The head coach/manager is to check every bat used to ensure it is a legal bat.  The primary responsibility of verifying a bat is legal is that of the head coach/manager.  Punishment for using an illegal bat at any point in a plate appearance is an automatic out.

3&2 is following the new national standard for the purpose of safety.

2012 3&2 Managers & Preliminary Seeding:

Manager Applications are Open for 2012. Filling out a manager's application is the first step in the registration process for next season. You do not need a full team to register as a manager. If you intend on managing a ball team, you may also work with the league to help complete your roster.

3&2 has seeded all of last year’s 2nd through 7th grade teams for league play in 2012 based on how each team did in summer league play in 2011. Click here to visit the preliminary seeding page and note the League column. Our objective is to place your team in a league where you will win as many games as you lose. We will work with each manager to place teams in the appropriate levels based on the addition or loss of players and how that change will affect its competitive level. February 27, 2012 is the last day to change where your team is seeded for league play for the 2012 season and you will have multiple opportunities between November 2011 and February 27, 2012 to finalize your summer league placement.
